Precision
Every figure has a source.
The rule it was sampled under, the seal number, the scale and its verification certificate, the draughts read. Whoever reads the report two years on should be able to trace the way back to the figure.
02 — About KRM
We have surveyed agricultural cargo since 2009, from an office in the Port of Constanța, with most of the work on the Danube and in the silos of southern and eastern Romania. We sample, weigh, inspect holds, attend operations and fumigate — for traders, exporters, farmers, owners and agents.
What a third party is for
A grain transaction settles on two figures: quantity and quality. When one of the parties establishes them, the other has nothing to rely on. When an independent surveyor establishes them, to published rules and with jointly sealed samples, the figure becomes a fact both can use — and the arbitrator too, if it comes to that.
That is also why the report records what could not be done: the hold nobody went down into, the scale without a verification certificate, the sample drawn from only part of the parcel. A report that does not state its limits is a report you cannot rely on.
The rule it was sampled under, the seal number, the scale and its verification certificate, the draughts read. Whoever reads the report two years on should be able to trace the way back to the figure.
We are appointed by the seller, by the buyer or by both, and paid by whoever appoints us. The result does not depend on that. A certificate written to please the client does not survive arbitration, and the client is the first to lose.
The surveyor is at the berth before the first grab, not after it. If a hold could not be inspected or a sample could not be drawn, we say so in the report, rather than leave a gap for someone else to find.
How a mandate goes
What you can check yourself
The GAFTA registers and the FOSFA members directory are public. Search for "KRM Inspection" under superintendents or fumigators, country Romania. The documents relating to a mandate we send on request.
